Ancestry Indexes CanadianHeadstones.com

I mentioned that CanadianHeadstones.com is becoming noticed around the world. Well, recently, Ancestry.com / Ancestry.ca has indexed our project.

Very rapidly, we have begun to see visitors coming to us from Ancestry. This move will rapidly increase activity and spread the good word about all of your hard work and hundreds, even thousands, of hours of hard work!

Thanks to everyone who has made this possible.

Coordinator Assistance Required

Hello Everyone - CanadianHeadstones.com is growing so very rapidly thanks to everyone's hard work. We are becoming increasingly noticed around the world!

However, growth creates its own problems in that we really do need the assistance of several more volunteers to act as coordinators. As a coordinator, you are responsible for checking and approving submissions for a given area of the country. The task is quite easy if you are familiar with the submission process.

The constantly increasing volume of new submissions is overloading our current coordinators. We need help!!

Please email Jim McKane with your expression of interest.

Thanks

Thank You re Canadian Historical Figure

Here is an exchange between our Ontario, Lanark County Coordinator and a user -

Thank you for your compliments Peter, it certainly was a day to be proud of in our family. I wish writing Evander and his "many" wives and children's history was as easy. The research is extremely interesting.
Thank goodness for websites such as the Canadian Headstone one and others as I also remember the old way of travelling to cemeteries and sitting scrolling microfilm and microfiche.

Hello Linda

Your submission for Evander Wm. F. McRae has been approved and now appears on the Lanark county section of the Canadian Headstones website.

I found your comment at the bottom of the inscription intriguing, so, upon googling the name on the stone, I found your blog entry which I read with great interest.

I want to thank and congratulate you for your efforts in placing this stone and giving a home and recognition to your Great Grandfather. A job well done on behalf of another very deserving historical figure!

Sincerely,
Peter Tucker
Lanark County Coordinator

Peter, you are to be congratulated on your note to Linda. CanadianHeadstones.com would not exist without the diligence of its tonnes of volunteers.

Translation Help Needed

Many times, we find headstones with text in foreign languages which our software will not handle. Therefore, we need volunteers to assist with the translation of the text. Some of the languages found are: -

- Chinese, Japanese and other oriental languages
- Russian
- Greek
- Arabic
- Hebrew

If you are fluent in any of these languages, we would like to hear from you.
Please email Jim McKane for more details.

Rapid Growth Continues!

Thanks to our many dedicated volunteers, we continue to grow at the rate of about 500 records per day!  WOW! Let's hope we can maintain the momentum as winter approaches.

In case you haven't thought of it, now is a GREAT time to take a large volume of photographs to input throughout the colder, snowy months.

Thanks again for your superb efforts and support.
