After 100 Years............

Today, we received the following letter of thanks........

Dear Sir or Madam:

Please accept our US$.... donation to Corporation.

Endless thanks to your volunteer who helped us find, after 100 years, the final resting place of my Great-Grandfather Stanko Dupalo,

My Great-Grandfather Stanko Dupalo was killed in a Welland Canal construction accident on November 2, 1914, at the age of 29 years. He had immigrated to America in 1911, died a widower, and left behind only one orphan son, back in Yugoslavia/Serbia. That was my Greanfather, Djuro Dupalo, who was killed in WWII.

Mr. Stanko Dupalo will be listed as fatality No. 5 on the Welland Canal Fallen Workers Memorial. My Great-Grandfather was originally listed in the Welland Canal record of  fatalities as "Stanley Duflo". However, the picture of his headstone that your volunteer and your organization posted online, helped Mr. Arden Phair (a volunteer with the Welland Canal Fallen Workers Memorial) trace the records and ascertain the true identity of Mr. Stanko Dupalo.

Thank you all for your outstanding noble efforts in keeping and doing the good.

Best regards,

Z.... K.........

It is so gratifying to receive such heartfelt note as this.

Congratulations and thanks go out to ALL of our volunteers!
Each of you help literally hundreds and thousands of people find their loved ones' last resting place; although the story may not be as dramatic as this and never told to us individually.

Site Problem this A.M.

Our sites are extremely slow or not available right now. I have checked with our host. It is a DOS Attack from hackers (Denial of Service). This is where a hacker send a whole country's worth of data to a site.

They are working feverishly to stop it and restore service.

My Parent's Grave

Hello, My name is M...... P......, I am the son of Gerard Provost and Louise Gauthier who's grave you photographed at Notre Dame Cemetery in Ottawa. I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for contributing that photograph. Over the years I have moved away from Ottawa and have been unable to visit the grave of my parents for a very long time. I can't tell you what it means to me to have this photograph. Thank you so much. God Bless You.

Sort of makes all our work worthwhile. Well done, Bonnie!

ALL Foreign Language Characters Now Supported

Thanks to one of our stalwart volunteers bugging us, we have expended considerable effort to modify our software so that ALL foreign language character sets are now supported............ cyrillic, Japanese, Chinese, and tonnes of others.

Please remember that if the name is entered using a foreign character set, then it will only be searchable in that language. Of course, you could also index the entry using the English translation of the name; then it would be searchable either way.

Upgrade will cause Interruption

Hello Users -

It is necessary to add an additional layer of security to our website which will cause some interruption of service. The upgrade will take place tonight at 10p.m. EDT. This may cause some outages in your area of internet service over the next 24hrs.

We apologize for any delays; however, we feel security is more important now than ever.
